Keeping a World Missions Focus |
|
Jesus gave his disciples the charge to "go and make disciples of all nations" as in Matthew 28:18-20. In 1 John 4:14, John says, "the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." Jesus said in Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."
It is very clear that Jesus' charge
to the church is for disciples to go into all the world -- locally and globally. The first century
Christians who were persecuted and were scattered certainly understood this
charge clearly. Acts 8:4 says they "preached
the word wherever they went."

Conflict Resolution |
|
While
the vertical beam of the cross reminds us that Jesus came to reconcile
men to God, the horizontal beam should remind us that he also came to
reconcile men and women to each other. The lead evangelist of the
Singapore Church writes an insightful, helpful article on resolving
conflict in God's Church.

Interrelation and Interdependence of the New Testament Church |
|
Unity - John 17:20-21 - “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
The great desire of Jesus for His church was and is unity. Words and expectations of Jesus for unity in His church however, and the historical reality of church history are miles apart. This is not a debatable interpretation of doctrine or history, but a stark fact lamented by all.
